Hi iv just installed a second hard drive that i want to use for files, and to store my paging file on, i am wondering which partition style i should pick could anyone spread any light on this matter...thanks.

If you plan on installing an OS on the second drive, you want a Primary partition for it. If you don't plan on installing an OS on the second drive, you can make it Extended. You can then break the extended partition up into several drives.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

BTW you can install OS's to extended partitions. OS install doesn't dictate primary. You only need one primary [1st drive 1st partition] so you can boot.
