Whenever a user tries to shut down the computer, it shuts down (like it should) but then i cant access it remotely. is there a registry hack or something to prevent the shutdown and do a restart instead?

If you have seen this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311806

It gives support for the opposite. I am looking for the opposite of what this article gives out. I am not asking for blue screen of deaths or error messes though, I just want to know how to make windows restart if a user tries to shut it down, so that i can do remote desktop to my shared computer when i am away from my computer.

There are bios options to power up under some conditions like LAN or phone ring (if the PC is capable).

Right Right aegis, I never knew I could change the setting in the BIOS, but I am looking for something in the operating system itself, not the BIOS since I am trying to do this remotely and not locally, where I am physically in front of the computer.

You need to preconfigure the settings, be they OS or BIOS in order to perform remote access. If you can currently perform a remote access to a computer you must have already setup remote access permissions.

You aren't referring to simple file sharing are you?

Think about what you are asking. If it were possible to connect to any computer without prior permission there wouldn't be much security on the net would there?

Have you googled for the service called "Go to my pc"? There may be some info there that may fit your needs. Bluejay

Either that or use this free tool (taken from the link in reply #4) to remotely turn on your PC whenever you like (provided that Wake-On-Lan is enabled in your BIOS).

Just remember that whenever you allow your PC to be accessed remotely, you're opening it up to potential hackers.

If the earth was created by a big bang, how come my car or computer or anything else isn't created the same way?
