Comment:

If I accidently press the power button when I didn't want to and the computer is closing all the applications and then shutting down. How do I stop the shutdown process right in the middle of it? Is there a Windows Shortcut key which will enable me to do so?

No. Once that process has started, you can't interrupt it or stop it.

My suggestion would be to keep your fingers away from the power button.

The only way to stop it is;

If your Power Supply has an "On/Off" switch at the rear, switch it to Off.

Pull the plug.

However, both of these measures can lead to undesirable results when restarting the machine.

HUH!! Why would anyone do that? He is trying to stop the shutdown process which cannot be stopped in that process.

If you can get to the "Run" command prompt fast enough, you can type in:

shutdown -a

This will cancel the shutdown command.

I suppose you could write a batch file and save it to the desktop so you could just double click on it to cancel shutdown.

This won't work as the desktop access is removed once you choose to shutdown/restart.
