I have windows xp and comcast high speed internet and i don't know if my connection is running PPPoE and i would like to find out because when i try to boost my internet speed using " system mechanic " it asks me if i have cable connection or cable connection running PPPoE and i have to choose one of those

PPPoE or Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, is used mainlly by telephone companies like AT&T and usually requires authenticating with a userid and password to establish a high-speed connection. Kind of like dialp-up used to be.
Comcast, (also my ISP) is not PPPoE, so you would select Cable.
