Power toy: Desktop Manager

Specs: Windows XP
Originally, when I opened the desktops, all had the same shortcut icons. I have unclicked the shared desktops and even restarted the computer. However, I cannot delete any of the shortcut icons from one desktop without their disappearing from all the other desktops. I wanted different desktops only so I could have different sets of icons on each. It now appears this will not work for me. Is my program working wrong or that how it works: same icons on all desktops?

Are you talking about Virtual Desktop manager (part of XP Powertoys)?

I need to clarify. I want different icons on each desktop. However, when I eliminate one from one desktop, it disappears from all the others also. So I can't figure out how to delete icons from one while leaving them on another. Thanks.
