Comment:

I have a Toshiba laptop and I charge the battery to 100% and it turns off suddenly. I have even charged it to the fullest and have it connected to power outlet and it still turns off. Once I press the power button it runs smoothly, but it turns off by itself. This happens every time I use it. The time length varies though; sometimes it will last 20-30 min, but sometimes just 3-5 min.

... first check the "power" options in control panel

... toggle the settings to "never" if set to turn off hard disk

... if it turns off (cold OFF) while running from the mains it maybe a contact problem @ the adapter were it plugs into the laptop they tend to crack the solder joint @ this point, if you wiggle it the power lights may flicker.

... if from 100% to 3% in minutes running from battery then its the "duff" battery!
