Power dvd 5 sound is scratchy

hi everyone
when i play dvds on my windows home edition xp the sound is really scratchy and sometimes you can't even hear sound at all.
why is this happening and how can i fix this? Is it maybe its got something to do with the sound card, or not?

could jsut be a bad sspeaker calbe
loose sound card socket, bad sound settings,
lack of good drivers,

just kidding...download some new drivers or could be ur soundcard cannot support high performance hardware such as dvd

scratchy sound can be due to hardware trying to keep up with software...but being too slow. It may skip in order to process the sound quicker. You can try rebooting and only running Power DVD and no other applications, see if that works
