For the past couple of days, I've been getting this strange little pop-up which has "http://media.fastclick.net" at the top, and a blank white screen for the pop-up itself. Have no idea what this is - maybe it's occurring in connection with the Linksys wireless broadband router I've been trying to install for the past couple of days? Don't know...

Do you have Service Pack 2 with the Pop-Up Blocker configured in Internet Explorer?

I don't know, actually (I'm a little bit unfamiliar with the terms you are using - would service pack 2 come with Windows XP normally?), but I can find out for sure later - if I did, what would that mean?

Thanks

Just open internet explorer, click on help, then about internet explorer. You will see SP1 or SP2.
If you have SP2, click on tools>pop-up blocker>pop-up blocker settings and set it to your preference.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Hi, I would run Ad aware, Spybot S&D, and install Spywareblaster. When you set up Spybot you can set the immunize feature and it will alert you to potential intruders by asking if you want to allow a popup (like fastclick) through. Spywareblaster is more of a preventitive utility which will "help" to keep out those nasty little critters. And if you have SP2, then by all means follow XPUser4Real's advice. Good luck. Bluejay

I think http://media.fastclick.net is associated with this website although I have not seen that popup in some time.

The referenced popup blocker; is that a Windows popup blocker or an IE popup blocker? Which application owns it? I've often wondered. I have it, use it and like it.

In the Pop-up Blocker settings FAQ link (Help) it says: "Internet Explorer allows you to prevent most pop-up windows from appearing over pages you want to view while you are using the Internet." suggesting it belongs to IE but IE6 does not have it without WinXP SP2.

I get media.fastclick only on one site, Jigzone.com. I have Windows XP with SP2. I was so disgusted with IE and OE that I had a friend install Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird. It has really cut down on the spam, and if I could only get rid of that rotten fastclick, I would be happy. Any suggestions?
