That sounds like the messenger service alright. You indicated that you've already disabled it under 'services'? If not, go back into your services, either by going through administrative tools in the control panel or by typing services.msc as a run command. Find messenger in the list and double-click it. First, stop the service, then disable it in the dropdown box. That should keep away the messenger service popups for good. Jim

P.S. The spyware messages are just ads. The XP messenger service is a security vulnerability that allows hackers to send popup ads to your machine. If you disable the service as i mentioned above, the popups should stop. Jim
