I have an HP with 1.5 Ghz pentium 4 processor and Windows XP. The computer is running slower than the old 200 mhz pentium I had before. The menus are slow and the computer has trouble running more than three simple programs at once. How can I utilize the processor's power?

Has this just started happening or has this been happening from day one?

It seemed to have started a few weeks after I got it after my father installed an old Corel Draw program, Coral 4 to be specific. I deleted the program completely off the computer, but I still think it is possible that it messed something up.

A friend of mine had a similar problem even after adding 256mb of mem. He then turned off Norton antivirus while running this program and it runs fine. Worth a try.
