Poor ftp performance in Windows XP??

Hi, The ftp performance really stinks on my WinXP machine. I both tried using IE6 and WS_FTP, same bad performance. Then I tried to log on to the same ftp-server using the same connection on my dads slower Win98 machine and it was MUCH quicker... Is there a general ftp problem in WinXP, or do I have a wrong setting somewhere??
I am a new user of WinXP.In Win9X,I can set and use the internet information service with ftp perfectly.But in WinXP,I don't know how to set the ftp service.I have set it,but I can't find it in programs.
The only WSFTP Program that will work on WinXP is WSFTP PRO 6.6 or better. It's just like the same problem with CD Burner Software, you need upgraded software. ;o)~
