PnP settings changed YES - WinXP wont boot

August 27, 2010 at 13:23:23
Specs: Windows 7
I have changed Plug and Play O/S settings to "yes", after this Win XP will not boot. It shows blank window with a cursor blinking. The HDD light does not show any O/S work in progress.
I tried to change it back to "No" and it stays the same. Why is this problem and can it be fixed somehow.
It is a Gateway laptop.
Win XP O/S

When changing it back are your saving the changes before exiting the BIOS?

Try booting into Windows safe mode if possible or look for a setting in the BIOS screens to "reset configuration data".

If you have that setting try enabling it for one boot cycle. It may or may not reset to disable automatically after one cycle.
