i am thinking of buying a Pextor dvd writer, however i note that------
"The PX-712A also has an extra jumper that can be used to disable the drive's UDMA 33 support. By default UDMA 33 is enabled, but by setting this jumper the drive can be set to Multiword DMA"The above statement confuses me more than just a bit---basically "what the ***k does it mean?" and i am going to set the jumper to master to replace my faltering NEC 2500 --But the extra jumper, what should i do with it??
also all the reviews are good for this writer but i note that the old model 708 had problems finalising discs when using Nero---has anyone got this type of writer and is it as good as the reviews
cheers

Hi .. I have that write and I also have a pioneer one too , Any ways I have my Plextor set as master with no problems ... The disc that comes with the driver also comes with Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 , Now I even have Nero 6 which I am having no problems at all with both ...

Hi,
Ya, I got that drive as a gift for Christmas and so far so good. I haven't really done alot of burning with it yet, but it did backup my C drive in about 13 minutes including data verification.
Go to Plextor.com and click your way through support and then downloads. On the downloads page there should be a manual in which you can read about the jumper settings.

Hi arthurx1234,
The Px-712A is a great drive.
Got mine for about 6 mounts.--great drive--for me so far....

Hi again ... I should mention that if you are planning to have both Nero 6 and Roxio 6 like myself here , You can't have both the InCD and Drag to Disc programs , You need to choose one of those progran only , Or at least that it is with my computer ... Its no big deal
