Comment:

I have an old computer, 1.1 ghz 256 mb ram with a 40 gb hard drive. This computer has always had a problem with the sound. Whenever I am on the internet, when I scroll or click the down arrow to view a web page, and play music at the same time, the sound snaps, slows down to almost a complete stop, and almost stalls the cpu out. This machine will not run any version of windows than xp, because it will corrupt itself. I tried different ram, cpu's, sound cards, modems, hard drives, and burners, and not a bit of difference. I had up to a gig of ram in here and the machine still did the same thing. Is this machine just a piece of junk, or is it something worth fixing. Please help me fix this before I burn out something??

Reply:

Upgrade the BIOS from the MB manufacturers website. BIOS will make the hardware issue go away.

Update the XP OS with the latest DirectX version.

Then repost.
