Hello Everyone,

I have two clip movie files that i want to watch them, but they are in the .DAT extension...How should i see whats inside of those files, i mean it says 01.dat and 02.dat and both of them are 300mb and i know for sure that those clips work and these are completed files...Please Help

As far as I know, you'd need to download a .dat viewer. Google it or check download.com. Good luck.

Did you download these files off of Kazaa?

Kazaa names its download files as .dat until the download is complete, then it renames them with the appropriate extension.

If the d/l is not complete, then the files are useless, and even renaming the extension wont do any good.

Not true RichGu. WMP will play DAT files (even incomplete ones) if the are MPG files.

-Not if you haven't downloaded the first few hundred kilobytes it won't.
Since Kazaa seems to transfer random parts of files (whereas Bittorrent transfers the chunks that are shared the least over the network), there's almost no telling whether or not it'll work.
Chances are, if it's a large file, and you're less than 60% done (or a small file, and you're less than 90% done), it won't play.

I have used a program to make such files playable, but I don't remember what it's called (something like WMFMPGAVI-Fix)
