1) Go to safe mode and try web browsing from there. If you can, it's a good indication you have either problems with Windows or a virus/spyware.

2) Download and update but don't run the scans for MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSypware, and CCleaner. These are all utilities that will help you clean up your system.

3) If that doesn't work, turn off Internet Explorer in the Turn off Windows Features menu, then reboot, then re-enable it and reboot again.

4) Try downloading a different browser from safe mode if you can and re-download IE.

5) When all else fails, backup your stuff and reinstall Windows. If that fails to solve the problem, get a new hard drive for the system and install Windows on it. It's highly unlikely the issue will proceed past this stage.

Re item 2 in response #1.

As you can't get to websites you will need to download the files onto another computer (Save rather than Run). The can then be transferred to the faulty computer on a flash drive. Install them by double clicking the saved files. You probably won't be able to update them either but its worth a try.

Be careful with registry cleaners - they can screw up systems.

Not sure why techninja said "but don't run the scans". They won't find anything unless you do. Mostly the quick scan for MalwareBytes is sufficient.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
