Please help resolve IP Conflict

I just installed an XP security console from this site (http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_securityconsole.htm )
....recommended on another post in the XP forum.......now I've love all network connection and get the following message..
"There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network"!!! How do I fix this...it's on my office network, but I do have admin. Priv. Also if anyone knows anthing about the above mentioned security console, let me know. Thanks,

I do "LOVE" my network connections, however the above message is supposed to read "lost"!

the IP conflict is easily solved. All it means is that two computers on the network has the same IP address. You obviously not using DHCP or this would not happen.

All you need to do is change the IP address of the computer that the error occurs on. This just means changing the last octet of the IP address. To change it so it doesn't conflict with another computer on the network you need to know what the IP addresses of the other computers are. You can find this out by doing ipconfig /all from a command prompt.

If this doesn't solve the problem more information on your network setup would help.

Thanks, Stuart.....I'll give it try. I did notice that the vacant machine next to my station had the same message on the screen. I unplugged it from the network and mine is fine. I still need to resolve it though. Thanks for the advice.

The vacant machine is obvioulsy the one with the same IP address as yours. Change the IP address on either one and you are home and dry.
