Having bought a brand new pc with AMD 64bit processor 1gig ram and ati Radeon 9600 graphics card and running on XP - Pro i have experianced some difficulties when playing games. About every 2 mins my gaming screen freezes for about 10 secs then i can continue to play on for around another 2 mins. Occasionally my screen will just go completly blank, well with multicoloured lines on it
and the only way to get my pc back is to restart. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

You should go to the ATI website and download the latest version of the Radeon 9600 install package, including the latest drivers. In addition you must insure that you have the latest chipset drivers for AGP from your motherboard manufacturer. Get the chipset drivers (often called a 4in1) and install them paying close regard to the instructions. Next install the ATI drivers. Follow the instructions in the ReadMe file of the ATI package that you download and install the latest version of the ATI software/drivers. Often times PC's are shipped with versions of video drivers that are not fully current. There is also a chance that the Radeon drivers are not installed, with the default drivers included in XP used instead.
Let us know how you do.

Make sure your videocard and cpu are not overheating. It sounds like that is what is happening.
