SYSTEM32.EXE is a virus, not to be confused with the SYSTEM32 folder in windows.

tlilly, I did some research about this issue, on Dell Dimension systems having
a factory installed Creative Labs Audigy2 sound card, after an
unknown period of time and with an unknown trigger event, a registry
entry will be added that causes the System32 folder window to
open at system startup.
Open the MSCONFIG utility and deselect the /L:ENG entry from
the STARTUP tab.

The above is from Heidi1's Response Number 8 at the link below.

Tufenuf,

I just purchased a Dell Dimension 8300 with the Audigy 2 soundcard installed - and had the same problem - the System32 folder popped up on startup.

Thanks for the info on the fix.

However, I did get a notice that System Configuation would have to startup every time, unless I returned to Normal startup.

This isn't a problem, but is there a registry fix to permanently delete the /L:ENG entry?
