Hello, I have xp media center edition and was just wondering if there was a way to play "vob" files within the media center navigation. It seems to only play mpg, avi, wmv files.

Thanks
Tricky

oh yeah I have non related question. Is there a program to convert PAL to NTSC? I have dvd decrypter, dvd shrink and dvdfab but I don't see this option on any of them.

There probably isn't a way to directly play VOBs. You can try FlaskMPEG (www.flaskmpeg.net) to convert the VOBs to MPEGs/AVIs/whatever.

as long as you have all the DVD's contents (files) you should bo ok.

the file your software is looking for is this one:

VIDEO_TS.IFO

Most DVD playing software will play the entire DVD by accessing this file. (above)

use dvd2avi to make an avi file, also you will have a audio file.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdub/
use virtual dub to put the two files back together.
divx and xvid are great codecs for making a much smaller file. I wouldnt use divx audio codec. Maybe mp3 or other.

hey, I couldn't get that FlaskMPEG to work, keeps crashing on me, not to stable. well anyway I found a program called DVDX that does the job just fine.

it's just a pain to have to convert everything. I was hoping there was a hack or something that would allow vob's to be played in within MC.

Don't misunderstand me I can play the vob's with windows media player and with WinDVD just not in the MC navigation system.

well anyway thanks!!!
