Reply: (edit)WMP9 is installed already! It's just that i prefer WMP6.4 for certain video/audio formats (not all though) Nevertheless it still seems like a bug since you get the confirmation nag even if you have confirmed yes on "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" ;)

Reply: (edit)Maybe WMP9 is stealing the association back (or trying to). Make sure you uncheck the file type in WMP9's options. Then go to control panel > folder options > file types, and set the file association there. Maybe that will make a difference. SullyD

Reply: (edit)Drunkin Master, Windows media player is intregral part of windows and it will not allow you to override commands for a lower version by default. The only options you have is to use it like it is or uninstall one or the other and use it as your default player. The only way i can see around it is to use two different O, S. with WMP6.4 on one and WMP9 on the other. HTH, rc

Reply: (edit)What format are you talking about? Because I have avi files open with DivX player by default, and I have no problems. Granted, I've never tried to make an older version of Media Player the default for anything. I do use "open with" to use my old media player and get no nagging. SullyD
