Playing movies to TV

I have my TV connected to my video card and can see the Desktop on the TV but when I open a movie with Windows Media Player I can see the Media Player but cannt see the picture it is playing. I can see the movie on the computer screen ok. Any ideas??

I may be able to help more if I know what video card you have. But on the guess, if you right click desktop/properties/settings, you should have an "advanced" tab towards the bottom. from there you can configure your dual display to your needs. Can't help more without knowing what card you have.

i had the same problem on my laptop. i was told by hp tech support that copyright rules on the dvd will only allow the movie to play on one screen at a time. when i changed the primary screen to the tv out, the movie appeared on tv and disappeared on the monitor. i have no verification of the copyright rules but it makes sense to me.(in a mpaa sort of way)
