I uninstalled a program (Links 2001 to be exact), and it was pinned to my Start menu before uninstalling. Now it is still pinned, and it won't unpin when I use the right-click menu.
I tried searching the registry, but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to manually get rid of stuff on the "pinned" menu?
Thanks for any help!

"Pinned" menu? Are you talking about the Start Menu?
If you uninstalled the program using Add/Remove programs and then rebooted, it should have removed all entries regarding that program. However, if it didn't, just do a search for Links 2001, or the folder name where it was installed, and remove the files.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't specific enough. It is on the Start Menu--you know the "Pin Item To Start Menu" option? It's in that upper-left menu.
I had already done a search for "Links" on my computer and deleted everything that looked like it'd be related to that program. I also deleted anything in the registry that had to do with Links 2001.
Unfortunately, the item still remains. I can't for the life of me get it removed. I was wondering if there was somewhere in the registry or on the hard drive where the pinned items menu is located so that I could manually remove it.

Ricky:If you tried to clean the registry manually, you probably missed an entry or two. The average registry has well over 200,000 keys. 8-)
Perform a general registry cleaning with a utility like RegSeeker(free at Snapfiles). The utility will remove useless keys (e.g., those which point to programs no longer installed).
Post back if you need help with RegSeeker. Incidentally, all registry deletions are reversible.

If I understand correctly you want to get rid of an icon on the start menu. Search for START MENU, it's in documents and settings. Locate the icon and delete it.

the 'pinned' items you won't find in the start menu folder ... try this: change the style of the start menu to classic and then back to modern xp style.
Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

I downloaded that Regseeker program, but it didn't find any "links 2001" values. I also searched just "links", and there was nothing pertaining to the program I uninstalled.
Also tried switching to classic and back...nothing...
Thanks for the help...anyone have any other ideas?
-Ricky
