IS there such a program that will extract pictures from a video? Or should i say take pictures from a video.

I would appreciate a free program if possible.

almost any video editing will allow you to extract still pictures from a video stream..
just shorten the displayed time allowed andextract the finished frame.

I have done what you are inquiring about using Windows Movie Maker.... simply freeze/pause the movie and take a snapshot. It will ask you to save the snap shot frame as a jpg.

Also FastStoneCapture will do it.
It's free and works excellent for cropping etc.
