pictures dont show in office xp

pls if you could tell me why when i insert a picture in powerpoint or excel i cannot see the picture , although the picture frame is inserted.When i put in slideshow the picture looks OK. WHAT CAN I DO?

Thanks. I did it in excel and works OK, but in the powerpoint the problem still exists , and there is not such a command in powerpoint tools.Any more suggestions??
