I can't view pics that are emailed to me, but only get a little square with a red x in it. I am using thunderbird mail-not outlook express & usually use Firefox browser.

I can get some pics, but usually not those from my friends, who are also using Windows XP. I would really like to resolve this issue, but have no idea what to do about it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Go to Tools, Options, Privacy and click on the General tab. What options are checked?

You need to have a program installed on your system that can handle the format of the picture. The 'Paint' program of windows can handle a couple formats, but not all. I would suggest that you download 'Irfan'. It handles a lot of formats.

The system must also be told which program to open the piture file with. This is called associating. I think Irfan should give you the option of which picture files it should be associated with. If not post back with a question on how to associate files.

Are these emails of the type:"Fwd: Fwd: Subject line"??

If so, it may well be that the problem is not at your end. Also check whether they have the ubiquitous "IncrediMail" signature near the bottom. Let us know.

I have AOL and I get a lot of red x from people
with a different Internet Service.
When this happens I open Outlook Express and I
can than view the pictures in the emails.
I believe this is a conflict with different
Internet Service Provider. I've never found a
cure for it.
Here are 2 website about Red X.
