Picks up DVDs as CDs

Hey, so my dell Dimension 3100 DVD drive picks up blank DVDs as blank CDs. It still properly picks up music CDs and movie DVDs but not blank DVDs, what is my problem?

Its a DVD/CD burner that has burned at least 30 DVD movies before, but now when I put a blank DVD in the driver it picks it up as a blank CD
