Picasa no longer recognizes my printer for color prints.

February 2, 2013 at 12:05:35
Specs: Windows XP

when wanting to print a colored photo file from my Picasa library folders, a window comes up showing a blk/white version of a colored photo file saying : Microsoft Office image Writer Properties instead of the usual: HP Photo smart Premium C410 I have used successfully for over 3 years. Printer has been checked ok. and drivers working in computer. I can only print a colored Picasa print file if I first e-mail it to my gmail account and then will print in color but image is cut off and not correct format size. Would uninstalling Picasa 3 version 3.8 to version 3.9 correct this situation? Thank you

There's something wrong with your printer installation if it's not shown in the Print dialogue of an application. I suggest you re-install the printer driver software.

"Would uninstalling Picasa 3 version 3.8 to version 3.9 correct this situation?"

Impossible to say, just give it to try.

I had my computer as well as my printer at Office Max yesterday where the techie guy uninstalled and reinstalled the software for the printer/driver and the problem seemed to be corrected there. However we didn't test the printing from the Picasa program and When I got home and hooked everything up, the same problem was there, the Picasa program not recognizing the HP Photosmart Premium printer. The techie guy won't be back there now until Monday. I checked for printing out text on plain paper from different sources and the computer will print correctly with the HP Photosmart C410 printer. The problem is with Picasa I believe. But thank you for your input.

Are you sure there isn't a drop down printer selection? Should be the box where you see the Microsoft Office image Writer.

no. I am very tired and need to go to bed. I will wait until Monday when the techie guy at Office Max first looked at my tower and printer is back and follow thru with what he started. Thank you for your response. I am sure you are very capable. SB
