Whenever I turn on my windows xp laptop it starts normal and goes to the desktop but then a minute later it goes to the blue screen telling me about physical memory was dumped.

I get the Stop message:

0x0000008E (0x0000005, 0x8058E764, 0xEFC03CAC, 0x00000000)

It lets me go into safe mode but im not sure how to fix this problem.

acepence89, the 0x0000008E error indicates a corrupted registry. Malware maybe? I'd scan just 'cuz. There are several commercial cleaners around. Can't tell you about their efficacy. Some folks swear by, others AT them.
HTH.

See also how to view dump logs at the ms site. Might have to use a live cd to even view them.

The actual dump log might contain the offending driver or hardware.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
