This all started when my computer's keyboard was beginning to malfunction. Eventually, the thing stopped working, so I decided to restart it. After that, I tried logging in. No dice. The keyboard wouldn't let me type in my password. Safe mode? No way. Eventually, I get a screen saying something about a Physical Memory Dump. It goes by very quickly, maybe for half a second, and then promptly goes away, and my computer restarts. Occasionally, I can use my keyboard to at least attempt to use 'Last known good configuration', But still the dreaded physical memory dump occurs. I've been forced to use a friend's computer, and he's getting a bit ticked off. Any help, or suggestions?

Thanks in advance:
Shmae.

Oh.. Sorry, just a little extra info... I'm using a FAT HD, and a nVidia Geforce 2 MX/pro 400 with 64 MB RAM(I think). Dunno if that helps, but if it does, then great. ^^;

Did you try a different keyboard? Is this keyboard PS2, USB or Wireless?

Your problem may or may not be hardware related. Can you boot up into bios and navigate using the keyboard? Will the PC boot up using a bootfloppy?

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

It's a PS/2 keyboard. Every once in a while I can navigate via keyboard, but at other times it does not work. I have not tried a bootfloppy.

To begin isolating the problem, unplug your harddrive, any optic drives(unplug both power and IDE cables) and remove any PCI cards except graphics card. Leave only CPU, RAM, GRAPHICS and Keyboard. Boot up into bios.
Any sign of problem? If so then try a different keyboard. If a different keyboard is still not working properly when you boot up into BIOS then your motherboard has a problem that could be related to the PS2 connector or the PS2 controller. In either case not a repair that your average Joe could do. Replacement is indicated.
