I have three albums in My Pictures showing 4 fotos for each. However, when the album is clicked, all I get are generic thumbnails that when clicked reveal nothing ohter than a message stating preview is unavailable. Apparently I've lost hundreds of fotos - BUT I do have them backed up on CDs . . . nevertheless, wondering how and why this happened and where did those fotos go???? Any ideas about retrieval? Thus far, my other albums are unaffected by this phenom . . .

Did this ever work properly? What is the file extension of the problem files? LIR

Run chkdsk /f to confirm you don't have file corruption. Make sure you are spyware/virus free

Reply to the first two responses . . . For - JenniferSUMN: Yes, my photos "worked" quite well for about five years - until the occurrence mentioned. All file extensions are .jpg. There are 4 dozen albums thus far unaffected . . . Thanx. For - Wanderer - My uneducated guess is file corruption has indeed taken place. But how? Anyway, nothing revealed to indicate any virus or other such surreptitious attacks . . . As mentioned, thus far all of my other albums are viewable. Thanx.
