On my laptop when I receive a photo via email, it won't save to. I have tried saving it to 'my computer' but it says 'can't find server'.
Is there anything I can 'enable' so that photos can be saved/
There is no problem saving photos on my desktop PC.
The laptop has windowsXP

Where in "My Computer" are you trying to save the file? You actually need to point to a folder to save the files. When you do the "Save As" click on the drop-down arrow and select the drive (C: D: etc.) and then select the folder.

Or, you can select "My Documents" to save them to.

When it is in the email (yahoo) it only gives two options...ie.
'save to computer' or save in yahoo photos'

On my desktop I click 'save to computer' and it goes into 'my pictures' with no problem.
On the laptop when I click either of those options, it says...'cannot find server'

Well, that's a little different. What browser are you using?

What happens if you forward the email to another email account you access on the laptop?

I don't understand much, sorry. If you mean IE as a browser, both laptop and PC have IE. I tried sending a photo on an MSN email to the laptop and it still wouldn't save the picture, neither will it enlarge when you click on the photo.

If you open your MSN mail on the laptop, can you then open the photo?

The photo is shown at the bottom of the email, so one can see it abeit small. A click on it should enlarge it in another window that appears but it says..'server cannot be found' If I click on msn email to 'save to computer' again a window comes up saying..'cannot find server'
On the PC a click enlarges the photo and if I click on 'save to my computer' it brings up a 'download' page to download to 'my pictures'
This doesn't happen on the laptop, not does it happen on my daughters laptop.
I wonder if something should be installed to enable a download, such as Java (although I don't know what that is) but some programme or other that will deal with 'save to'

Are you using a dialup connection?

Is it a photo that someone is sending within an email or is it an HTML email with a photo embedded in it (like a website)?

The latter could account for it trying to find the server, particularly if you are on dial-up or one of those USB modem broadband arrangements which still use the Connect Box to get online.

My PC is on Virgin cable but recently my husband bought a laptop and we had to have a router and wireless connection. Both work fine no probs.
From my PC I emailed him a couple of photos using my yahoo email address, just to test if he could save them (my daughter has the same prob with her laptop, she can't save photos from email, any email service be it yahoo or msn whatever. She just has a laptop on Virgin but a wireless connection, not cable)
I have no probs whatever saving photos from any incoming email. I just click save to computor then down;aod to 'my picyures'
