I've read the message boards, Google searched till I'm "blue in the face", tried the XP compatibility wizard numerous times, and visited the Broderbund Support page.

As you'all who still use PhotoFinish 3.0 with any Windows OS prior to XP know, it is one TERRIFIC bitmapped editing program. Unfortunately, there appears to be no way to get it to operate under WinXP, i.e. I always get the error message "Zsoft381.drv not found or memory low" no matter what I do.

My question is: Does anyone know of a current program similar to PhotoFinish 3.0 that will work under WinXP ?

Much Thanks,

Eric S.

Hello Eric... I am not familiar with that PhotoFinish 3.00 at all, but I have been using a great program called Photo Filtre.
There are countless filters and editing capabilities with it and I would highly recommend that one. It is also free for personal use.
Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but thought I'd post it just in case.
I have no difficulties on my end in regards to Windows XP compatability issues; and I also have SP-2 installed too... no problems at all.
Hope this helps you out a bit; take care..

For TommyO and Herself - Much Thanks - I shall give it a "looksee." As the name sorta implies, PhotoFinish was originally designed as a photo editing tool. I believe it started off as PC Paintbrush and gradually evolved into PhotoFinish. I used it to edit line art drawings and, as I originally posted, it was TERRIFIC.

Hey Eric - I am surprised to see that someone else loves PhotoFinish. I also used version 3.0 and I get the same error under XP. I've tried everything with no success. I have the 4.0 version (but preferred 3.0). Under XP, I was able to install and run 4.0 but no matter what I try, all prints are B&W. Have you tried this and did you solve it?
Thanks

Sorry to be this late in getting back to you but I thought I would give this PhotoFinish (PF) 3.0 installation "one mo try". Just to digress for a moment, I, too, bought PF 4.0 and was amazed - it's like they (I think Wordstar owned the program at that time) took a step backwards. But, then again, I was being a little selfish because I used the program almost exclusively for editing bitmapped line art drawings (technical illustrations).

Without implying that I have given up my "love" for PF, I "lucked out" the other day when I bought a CD label maker from the local Staples. The CD installation disk contained a program called Paint Shop Pro (30-day trial version) and it appears to be the closest thing to the original PF that I have YET found. I'm also lucky in that PF works fine in WinME and that is still installed on my daughter's identical computer upstairs. Keep in touch in the event you (or I) find a solution.

Regards,

Eric S.

Eric,
I too used Photo Finish to edit my line art drawing and add color to them through fills etc.. I have Paint Shop Pro and cannot seem to add color to my drawings, have you done this with your drawings?
Thanks!
