Greetings,
I've looked high and low on the net for info on how to load pharlap.386 on XP
For 95, 98, & 98SE you add the following to system.ini
[386Enh] device=pharlap.386
with the file being in windows/system
Does anyone have any suggestions and referrals. TIA -David
XP even has a feature that lets you fool older software into thinking it's running on an older version of Windows. XP has a "compatibility wizard" that can help you figure out and emulate whatever settings the older software is looking for. (See http://www.google.com/search?q=Compatibility+Mode+XP or http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q292533& or http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q301/9/11.asp )

DOSBox http://sourceforge.net/projects/dosbox DOSBox emulates a full x86 pc with sound and dos. It's main use is to run old dosgames on platforms which don't have dos(win2K/XP/linux/FreeBSD)

Thanks for the replies.
The Cadkey link was dead
The compatibility mode doesn't seem to load system.ini. I will have to dig into deeper, but I haven't seen anything on advnaced type setting other than what is in the dialog boxes.
I've download the dos box program. I will try it out later this week. The machine in question is in the middle of a large rendering than can take days. -David
