I bought a hp psc 750 printer copier scanner and have not been able to get it to work properly since I bought it 3 months ago. When I scan a document to edit text with the ocr software that came with it, it barely recognizes anything. I wrote HP and followed their recommendations and nothing seems to work. I'm ready to use up the ink that came with it and when that's gone throw the darn thing out and buy a Lexmark. Also when I try to scan a photograph I get a white line that appears on the side of the image when opened as a jpeg. When I scan documents I use the "HP director", the software that came with the scanner. I have a friend that has the same scanner bundled with a dell computer. He uses his microsoft office program to scan documents without a problem. As a matter of fact we experimented by scanning the same document on both scanners and his worked fine and mine was garbage. I would appreciate any suggestions as to a fix before I run out of ink.

The hp software for this device is not XP compatible. Uninstall it all. Let windows install the proper drivers.
I have the same model and the windows drivers work fine.

Just another thought - use the copier function without the pc. If you still get the line, there is something wrong with the scanner. If that is the case, you should be able to return it (to hp, not the store you bought it form after 3 months)..
