pc-tv via svid lead, no sound?

hi, i have a radeon x1600 series graphics card with a svid out for a second monitor. my tv has a pc input but its vga, i bought an svid extension lead and a lead to convert svid to vga but it doesnt work. i then noticed i have a svid input on my tv too, i plugged the svid lead into the tv from my graphics card and it worked a treat!!! except i dont have any sound and there isnt a sound input for AV5 on my tv only svid. should the svid lead carry sound aswell as the picture? any help appreciated!!!
