The PCtel modem is not supported by XP, had the same problem with mine afer upgrade, PCtel report no drivers available and they are not going to do any, solution is ..new modem, sad but true

Dude! I just downloaded an xp compatible modem driver for my pc tel hsp56 micromodem and works great. U must identify ur correct modem to get the right driver.(pc tel website)
