Bought at auction and could not be happier with it, until the computer sat with the power off for a week or more due to due some disciplinary actions against un named minor's HA! 2003 Compaq P5000 1G chip w/500m of SDDr 1 slot, running windows xp Svp3 ( pretty sure ) 1.0 USB x4, on board Sound and Vid, 19in monitor, CD-R\W, DVD SO to say the cmos battery is old is an understatement at the least, but the kids are hollering like cats in heat so anybody used this type of fix and had it work let me know please. I had this happen Turn on COMPAQ flash's up windows cannot continue yada yada yada .. press r yada... system32\drivers\pci.sys missing corrupted Get tired of trying the change boot drive ,start normally etc..and turn it off. Come back the next day and kids are asking me WHAT DID YOU DO? huh the computer is on and working TADA.wav!!!! Great working fine , turns on and off for several days in a row and then poof same thing..looking at the phone books wondering if any of the local guru's are gonna rip me off or help a little so again If you replaced the CMOS battery and solved this problem please send me a reply, thank you.
