Can anyone help me!!!

Find the FCC ID number on the modem and type the number in Google search with a few words like "modem' and "driver".

Try uninstalling the modem and drivers first - click on Control Panel > System > Device Manager > double click - Modems > right click - uninstall, click OK.

Reboot your computer and the Found New Hardware wizard should start, put the modem drivers CD into the drive and follow the onscreen instructions - make sure the XP drivers are the ones selected - and finish the process. Reboot and you should find it working ok. If not go to the Manufacturers website and look for the latest XP drivers.

Are you using it on a hub? It could be that it needs a port to itself.

Im not using a hub, i just need the driver for the PCI Simple Communication Controller. The modem driver CD is only for everything up to windows ME, No XP.

hey guys, I just wanted to let you guys know that I had the same problem. I suggest that you open the tower and take out the modem PCI. Than put it back in and make sure its in firmly. reconnect your comp and if your running XP the comp should automatically recognize the modem. Beleive me I am so glad i found tis out . I have tried to install all the drivers that tech support suggested to no avail. just give it a shot and let me know . Peace

Hardware:

Gateway 9300 Solo (400Mhz PII) 288 MB ram.
Win XP Home with all the latest patches.

Same Problem:

What if it's a laptop and the modem is integrated. I have a Gateway Solo 9300 laptop with the 3com modem and now there's the same "PCI Simple Comm Controller" device which needs a driver. Since I can't reseat the modem what should I do and or where can I find the appropriate the drivers? This was working for about six months when all of a sudden my USB port detected excessive voltage and then this PCI Controller issue hit. After looking on the web and reading the other problems I've found that my modem was also missing from the device manager....:(

Any help would be greatly appreciated... I have not had any other problems with XP Home on my other Laptop or Desktop machines.

Thanks,
Mark
