I installed 32 bit pci serial card. Windows acknowledges as com 5. However, the port does not work. Anyone have suggestion? IRQ problem? My sys has built in USB. Trying to use ext serial modem. Thanx

Most BIOS's will not readily accept COM 5.

Check you manufacture for suggestion on configuring a COM 5 (or more) port. Usually a patch does the trick.
