hello, i would like to ask those that have exp with avg security for 2007 and the pc-cillin 2007 security suites.

Which one do you all think is better?

Does PC-Cillin have more features than avg or lesser?

Does PC-Cillin seam to run smoother than avg or much rougher?

Can PC-cillin detect a lot more than avg or not as much as avg can detect?

I like freebies...but trend micro's pc-cillin is a lot easier on the system than most other ant-virus protections...bought or free.

ahh nice. i have been told by a few that pc-cillin does run smoother and i kinda believe that because I've used avg for a long time and I've noticed a lot of resource hogging it requires.

Ive compared avg to pc-cillin on both sites and to me im not sure but i think avg doesn't have some features that pc-cillian does have and pc-cillian may have stuff that avg has as well but im not totally positive but i do have another question for those that have used avg 7.5 and pc-cillin 2006.

Is the detection of pc-cillin better or worser than avg 7.5 or are they both real good and there could be no comparison in detection issues?

also i have just signed up at www.virusbtn.com or something like that. it shows you tests on different types of anti-virus software. i wanted to know if the tests are based on detection issues or if they based on resource management or is it based on both?

i will go back to the site and read up as i wait for a response to this message. and thank you for your support so far.

lol i just read the message right under the title. I'm a pc gamer and i read fast. sometimes reading fast you can miss out on stuff by accident. anyways my last question was for those that have used pc-cillin 2006 and avg 7.5 bought version:

have you all had more success out of avg 7.5 full bought version or more success out of pc-cillin 2006 full bought version?

AV Performance Tests

The folks over at Virus Bulletin regularly test the ability of the major AV products to detect currently circulating viruses - their "100 Top Viruses in the Wild." They award their VB100 rating to AV products that detect all 100 in any given month.

Over a period of time it's possible to tabulate how often individual AV products receive the VB100 award. Here are the results for some major AV products from 2003 onwards:

program tests %

Nod32 10/10 100%
Norton 9/9 100%
F-Secure 9/9 100%
Trend 8/8 100%
Kaspersky 9/11 82%
McAfee 8/10 80%
AVG 6/8 75%
Norman 7/10 70%
F-Prot 6/9 67%
Avast 6/9 67%

this is about as good as it gets for test comparisons

bottom line: if you want to spend money on AV soft then get NOD32 which is by far the best. if a freebie will do you, then avg free 7.5 (you now have the option adjust the priority to save system resources during a scan) is the best solution followed by AntiVir PE.

if all you need is a reliable virus scanner (no resource eating on-access protection) then have a closer look at ClamWin.

saber ... i doubt they've been regarding the overall impact on your system when installing NAV (which nobody in his right mind would do :-)

norton always been good in detecting viruses (curing the problem is a different kettle of fish :-)
