Hey Your cooling fan probably went out,and I think your motherboard is gone. But check this out first! I just Emailed you a program that will check everything on your computer. Save it to floppy and then boot with it. At the A: prompt type in ,,checkit,,and follow instructions.

do you have another power supply that you can put in and test it. and this noise you talk about do you know where it is comming from? I would asume from the information so far that when you press the power button nothing happens no fan noise no lights? if so do what I said at the start of this post and try another power supply.

I don't know where the noise come from but yes you're correct when i press the button nothing happens and I'm not sure if I have another power supply so I think I'm going to have to see if one of my friends have one tomorrow so I can test to see if it'll work.

what kind of computer are you useing to post the messages? is the power supply in it the same voltage and wattage wise? also try this disconnect everthing from the computer except the mouse keyboard memory and video card diconnect the harddrives floppy drives and cd drives and then try to power on see if it will post or if the fans turn on. if nothing then try another power supply and if that works just go buy a new one. post back let me know how things go.

sorry I took this long to reply but i just came home from school and stuff but anyways this is a laptop that I'm using. As for my pc,before it broke down on me I used 115V and then after it broke down, nothing happens when i press the button and since it has two choice of power supply (115 or 230).I then went to 230 to try to see if it'll work but when i press button on 230 the fan starts for like one second and is gone and then i press the button again and nothing happens so I have to unplug the power plug and replug it back in and the fan will start for one second more.and thank you for trying to help me with this problem.

Bob I think you have a power supply problem and my suggestion would be to have a local PC shop test it first to make sure the board is not fried as well
