Happy New Year All!

This morning I was prompted to install ie7 and did so. when I restarted my PC (~which is only a few months old), it crashed. To the extent that I couldn't reboot or turn it off so had to unplug at the mains and then turn it back on.

I have tried pressing F8 and booting in safe mode as well as trying to boot with the last known good settings, however whichever option I try the PC locks up and I then have to unplug it in order to turn it off and try again.

Most importantly, how can I get my PC to start again and how can I then get rid of ie7 and revert back to the way it was?

Many thanks

Bartolli

If you get into safe mode try: run chkdsk /f

It might help.

Internet explorer 7 is under add & remove programs.
I use it, & have no problems, so I don't think it is causing your problem.

Thanks Clive, but I've already tried & can't even get started in safe mode!

Try putting in the windows cd & try a repair install. I have never done it myself, but other people on this forum have.

OK, after leaving the PC for a few hours to do some urgent work with my laptop, I turned the PC back on and it booted up ok. I managed to reboot into safe mode, ran avg/spybot etc to doublecheck and then ran chkdsk.

No problems cropped up & it now seems to be ok, even ie7 is running ok.

I guess it just had a hissy-fit and now feels much better for it!

Thanks

Bartolli
