I just loaded XP Smoker (boy did it!) and set some of the tweaks in it. Now my PC won't go past the memory check. It freezes at the word "Memory" in the POST. In fact, it doesn't even complete the word, I only get "Memo" and part of the "r". Would appreciate if someone could tell me what is going on here and what I can do to fix it? The PC was fine before I loaded this fricken XP Smoker program.

Thanks,
B

I guess it must have corrupted the Windows Registry.

You may try to Boot with Windows XP Pro Disc of your current SP after making CD device as the First Boot device in BIOS setup .
At the Welcome To Setup screen, out of 3 options choose To setup Windows XP now and then press [ENTER] ; DON'T SELECT To Repair Windows XP using Recovery Consol.

After the Licernse agreement , your currently insatlled System will be detected and you will get prompt to Repair pressing R once again. Now press R .
Do Not Press Any key to boot from CD when prompted. Let the setup copy all the required files to repair and it will take as long as a new install but be patient.

Hope this helps.

What I would do is.. Remove the memory sticks and reseat them. Try to boot..

If that dont work. Then pull one addon card at a time and try to boot.
If that dont work then I would clear the cmos and reboot.

Junk Internet Explorer,
Get Firefox! You'll be happy you did.

Thanks for the ideas/help people. I'm back in business. The problem was with the SoundBlaster Audigy card. I removed the wireless NIC first and was still getting the problem, but when I removed the sound card and rebooted, I got somewhere. Still had to do a few minor corrections in the BIOS after that but back in business. Thanks again.
