Hi, I'm just re-installing my pc then when I plug the power, the CPU fan, PSU starts also. The only thing I have in there are 350W PSU, Athlon 2400, 256mb PC2700 and Soyo KT333 Dragon lite. I heard 3 long beeps also then the CPU fan and PSU stops spinning after the beeps. Weird. Help pls...

Hi askal

Your mobo manual trouble shooting section should give you the beep error code description.

If not jump on the soyo web site and have a look at the on line help for your model board.

sorry cant be much more hlp than that, diffrent manufacturers use difrnt error codings.

3 beeps can mean bios or cpu error followed by shut down, usualy by a protection circuit to prevent damage to board or cpu.

good luck

Did you use stand-ups/ins when you put your board into the case? If not, it'll turn on for about 5 seconds and turn off. The stand-ups are necessary for the mobo not to have its electrical current dissipated by the metal in the case.

Janos, thanks for the advice. I'll try to do that.

Andre, What do you mean by stand-ups/ins?

Andre I think was refering to the brass stand off which are attached to the case and provide the space required betwen the case and the mother board, to prevent short circuit.

If the board makes any contact with any part of the metal chassis of the case it will create a short circuit ans shut down, or at worst blow the motherboard.

Hope that answers your question.
