I just started my pc and the floppy drive made a noise as if it trying to read something, then I hear 1 beep, and then the process repeats. If I put a floppy in the drive it then gives two short beeps. It could be defective memory, but I just need someone to confirm the beep codes are bad memory, or if anyone has experienced similar problems please let me know. I have also stripped my pc down to a basic processor/fan, motherboard, and power supply, and get eight short beeps.
specs,
AMD 1800+
MSI K7T Pro2RU
Mtec 512mb DDRThanks in advance for any help.

Mark,
Here you can find the beeb codes of differend BIOS versions. Scroll down and find your BIOS and see the beeb codes.

Hi,
I know this may sound stupid but I had the same problem with different beep codes on my comp, this was due to the fact that the video card was not in the AGP slot correctly. Could be a card not inserted quite right etc.
