I have a computer w/ 1.4ghz t-bird 1gb ram,and i had it running the beta version of XP fine, then it started having problems. first my burned drive would not open so i took that to see what was wroing they said it was dead, then when i booted up the computer would sometimes boot up othertimes it would not, all it did was turn on and the fans would turn and i got no screen or messages on the monitor and i also got no beeps. if i turned it off then back on it would sometimes work and the bios would come up and appear ok but it would not load past the screen where it says verifying DMI pool data..... so i took the 30gb hdd out and put it in a different computer and the hdd was dead..it was NTFS and the other computer was NTFS as well. so the burner and hdd r dead...i put a 15gb in to see if i could load my pro XP version but it stil did the same thing as before. i thought maybe the bios were not saving correctly so i bought a new battery and still it will not go past the screen wehgere it is verifyiog DMI pool data...i do not know what to do..help. Thanks, Bill

damn, thats a whole heap of failures to be a coincident.
could be the PSU is spiking and burning out various bits of your machine.
could be your ram has developed a bad sector at the begining
could be your cpu is mostly toast.
best advice i can give is to get it checked by a professional or use a warranty if you have one

If you are stuck at "verifying DMA pool" you have a hardware problem.
Since you have detected the failed hardware you might try clearing your CMOS and booting.
I would agree with miracle, too many hardware failures at the same time may be due to power pack failure.siri

I had a very simular problem when trying to add a second hard drive, the bios and device manager would see it but not explorer. Then after awhile it quit booting altogether. I cleared the bios and it came up but only twice and I had to a gain clear the bios, it hasn't come up since. I've used many systems before but never XP and NTFS.
