PC to TV

Comment:
Connecting the s-video socket on the PC's video card to TV's RCA video-in socket with the appropriate cable, does NOT result in the PC display appearing on the TV. The HP-customised XP HELP mentions a 'TV option' and a 'S3 DISPLAYS tab' which should be tweaked to fix the problem, but neither of these items appear in Display; Settings tab; Advanced button. HP block accessing them for assistance, with requirements I can't meet - it is not MY PC. Any suggestions ?

I did respond to MWCC's question, but it has not appeared in this thread !
I had the opportunity to test 'the connection' from a relatively modern laptop with a S_Video socket and this time I saw an image of the desktop on the TV, BUT ONLY of the wallpaper - neither the desktop icons, nor the open program showed. This is progress, but not good enough. Any further pointers ?
