you could buy a graphics card that supports S-video out, or rca out. You'll need the neccesay inputs in your tv or vcr for the s video ir rca.

all you should need is a video card with s-video out, most newer cards have this option. Of course you must have s-video IN on your tv for this to work, or you could probably get an adapter to whatever your tv will accept, althouhg i haven't heard of s-video to coax...anyway, good luck on this one

well would could to from rca or s-video to coax by running it through an rf modulator, this is good for older tv's (such as mine) and works well, it decreases the quality slightly due to the tv not able to handle all of it, but it still works and looks good

I had a related problem.

I have HP Pavilion513a with onboard graphics and no TV output. Windows XP.

Tried to install video cards (AIT and NVidia), both were not compatible and could not work in my computer. Even left my computer with a specialist, but they also could not install drivers.

Does that mean that if I want to see movies from DVD on my TV I have to buy a new computer?

Be careful when buying a video card with tv out. Make sure if you view tv in the united states a NTSC tv format it is able to display a 720 x 480 screen resolution or there will be a black boarder on the tv screen of the tv you view the image on. It might be better for you to look into an external usb type computer to tv device. Some give you several output options and a remote control. I personally purchased a computer with a nvidia tv-out card and a'm very disappointed due to the previously mentioned black boarder problem. just do a google search for ( computer to tv ) etc... and see what shows up. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!

peter-

well to start with, if you want to watch a dvd on your tv then buy a dvd player, a much easier thing to set up.

however, if you want to watch a dvd on your computer as well as your tv, then you should be able to install a card to do that for you, if you cannot get a card to install then you have a much bigger problem with your computer than just using it to display on your tv. my roommate had an hp and he upgraded the graphics with a pci card just fine.

i would say post EXACT information of what happens when trying to install in another post and figure out what is wrong with it. a lot of so-called "Tech Specialists" really have no clue what they are doing, they are a glorified salesmen.

but buying a new comp is always nice, and any reason is sufficent, but a warning- DO NOT BUY FROM A CORPORATION such as hp, dell, gateway.... they just give you enough so you have to upgrade when you want something new, build it yourself and you will do a lot better, as well as save a little bit of money, hope this helps
