My Pc thinks that the wrong CD is in the drive, it thinks that a previous CD is inserted.
For example, if I watched a DVD yesterday, the next day when a blank CD is inserted the CD drive label will still say the DVD is inserted.I can still access the cd in the drive but the label is wrong, this means that I cant burn CD's in XP becuase it doesn't think a blank is inserted.

Hi
Would have probably leaned towards trying a different cable on the cd burner but...
Hmm I've run across similar in 98 and fixed it, but it must be just this week, I can't remember the simplist thing. So I did some looking, anyhow I'm not that familiar with XP.
Microsoft link which explains a couple of methods of detecting a change in the media.
I then found an excelent link. Have a good look though it. It might not actually solve your problem, but could help others who have similar problems or have found this post though google etc.
A clear solution with informative links
The obvious thing to get XP to see a blank cd, would be to eject and put the blank back in, but I suppose that wouldn't let you burn anyhow.
